KG Hawes’ Staff Digs Deep at the Local Youth Farm
As an affiliate company of Hawes Group, KG Hawes participates in a variety of corporately sponsored community outreach events. One of our favorites is the twice-annual “Day of Caring.” Today we thought we’d share some highlights from our most recent event.
KG Hawes’ operations center is located in Springfield, Oregon. Our “Day of Caring” takes place at Food for Lane County’s nearby Youth Farm. The Youth Farm is one of Food for Lane County’s many community gardens which sustainably grows food for members of the community in need. The Springfield farm is a five-acre educational farm that produces more than 100,000 pounds of fresh organic produce each year!
Food for Lane County is leading the charge for local hunger relief efforts; they provide food access for those in need through a network of more than 150 social service programs. We are proud to support their efforts through events like these and also regularly held canned food drives at our office.
The Hawes “Day of Caring” has become a much-loved tradition. Twice a year, rain or shine, employees strap on boots and gloves and dig in the dirt for a good cause. Last year we had more than 60 employees participate and we are hoping to break that record this year!
