United Way – Days of Caring

UNITED WAY – DAYS OF CARING

Since 1933, Day of Caring is an annual day of volunteering facilitated by the United Way of Lane County. Each year, the United Way works to coordinate partners across the nonprofit spectrum (such as: Kits on Site (for children), and Food for Lane County), as well as public, and private sectors, for one incredible day of giving back to the community through volunteerism. The event takes place each September and helps to promote the importance of a connected community.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the United Way of Lane County and Food for Lane County, adhering to COVID-19 recommendations from the CDC, OHSA, state, and local officials, reimagined this year’s Day of Caring into DAYS of Caring from September 24-26, 2020. Most all of our Hawes Group volunteers participated, making themselves available to harvest onions, pack kits and to chip in wherever needed.

Hawes Group comprises a number of subsidiaries: Professional Credit, Ensource, KG Hawes & Hawes Investments. We care about our community and donate on a regular basis to numerous charities. Few rewards however, rival the joy of personally helping people when they need it the most. All Hawes Group employees participate in a volunteer program at the charity of their choice, with United Way hosting the largest number of our volunteers. Our collective efforts have reached upwards of up to 1,000 volunteer hours yearly. And, another job perk you don’t run into every day…

We pay our employees to do it!
